We are about to enter the fourth week of January 2024, we have high expectations for Medium. We want a platform that embraces change and innovation, not one that is stagnant. In the coming year, we hope to see improvements and new features on Medium, and we are trying to present them in a straightforward manner. what we want to see on the platform in the future.

1. Faster Articles Indexing in Bing

We need Medium to improve the speed of their article indexing in Bing, Google indexes medium articles a lot faster than Bing, also sometimes Brave does not rank medium articles even though we add exact keywords, we know that Brave does not have a webmaster but there can be way to show articles. however, A faster indexing process on Bing means our content reaches more readers quickly, allowing us to connect with a wider audience.

Also, we want that our comments should not be indexed on Search Engines. It will be great to have that option to disable Indexing the Comment.

2. M.P.P. Expansion in More Countries: A Promise Deferred

Medium’s promised expansion of the M.P.P. to more countries is yet to happen in 2024, despite being anticipated since 2023. The expansion will benefit content creators and enrich the platform’s diversity of perspectives on a global scale.

3. Stories Link Color Change: Taking Cues from other platforms

A simple yet effective change we’d love to see on Medium is the ability to customize link colours in our stories and add custom CTA’s, similar to the user-friendly interface of Hackernoon and Substack. This small tweak allows for personalization, making our stories visually engaging and ensuring a seamless reading experience.

4. Automatic Translation of Stories

Our goal is to create a Medium where stories are automatically translated into different languages, breaking down linguistic barriers and enabling writers to connect with global audiences. This feature will expand the reach of every narrative and foster a truly global community where language is no longer a barrier to sharing ideas.

5. Advanced Markdown Support: Bring on the Formatting Tools

Medium should introduce more formatting tools, such as tables and more Headings, to enhance the reading experience and enable writers to present their ideas in a visually appealing and organized manner. I personally really like the tools that Hackernoon and Substack offer.

6. AI-Assisted Writing:

The medium should integrate AI tools like Grammarly to improve user experience and help in typo correction, TLDR(too long; Did not read)and sentence completion. This will ensure a quick and efficient writing process that allows us to focus on the content rather than the errors.

In Conclusion:

As we move forward into the last week of January 2024, we can set our sights on a Medium that is increasingly accessible, user-friendly, and supportive of diverse content creators. We want Medium to be known as a platform that focuses on great stories and offers features that make writing easier and give a way for every to write and express themselves.

I want to leave you all with the words of Margaret Fuller:

Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.
